Squaw Valley

Well, I finally got a job!!!!!! Yay!!!!  I don't start until September 4th, so Paul and I decided to celebrate a little by taking the kids to the Resort at Squaw Creek for the weekend.  Now I had never been there during the summer time.  It was absolutely beautiful!  I cannot wait to go back.  The views, the bike riding, the pool with a bar!!!!!!  There was hiking and golf but we never got around to that.  Next time.
It took us a while to get up there on Friday afternoon.  We got stuck behind two bad accidents so it took us 4 hours to get up there.  BTW, it should take us no more than 2!!!!!  The kids were fabulous and we got up there just in time to head down to the Village for dinner.  Wanderlust was going on while we were there, which was interesting to say the least.  It is a yoga and health and wellness retreat.  Let's just say, Paul and I didn't fit in.  We headed straight to pizza and beers, no line!!!
The next morning, we took off on the bikes and rode the bike trail down past Alpine Meadows.  It is absolutely beautiful.  You ride on a separate trail than the road and it runs alongside the Truckee river.  I highly recommend it for anyone who likes to do leisurely bike rides.  After that we went back to the room for naps and then off to the pool.  Rum Runners!!!!  Let's just say it was a great weekend.

This smile was too cute.  He is such a ham!

Got Adrienne smiling.

"Ice Ceam"

Our room was beautiful.  We had a one bedroom suite.

O.k., I can't take the best pictures, but I like the eagle pole.

Beautiful morning.

"It's o.k. Bunny Bear.  We will get back to our tee bees soon."

"This thing better not move."

We stopped along our ride.  Isn't this just perfect?

Adrienne threw sticks in the river the entire time.

Awe, my sleepy boy.

I am going to say it again.....ibert owes us some of their marketing budget!
People were stopping us asking about the seats.

This kid is too cute and so patient on his bike rides.
He just rides along as happy as can be.

Adrienne always picks Daddy's bike.  Of course.

Mama cruising along.

Buh Buh Boo's first haircut

We seem to call Matthew Buh Buh Boo.  Anyhoo, his hair was getting a little out of control.  Paul was telling me that we need to get it cut but I was resistant.  Last week, he was mistaken as a girl, so I guess it was time to get it cut.  I took him to a kiddie place and it was really cute.  Here are some pics.

Before.  Seriously, this kid is so cute!  The kid before him was screaming and he is smiling.

"Wait a minute lady."

"What can I put in my mouth?"

I thought that Adrienne would freak out when we got there but she was great, she was dying to sit in a car.

AFTER - My handsome boy!

Later that day getting frozen yogurt.  No one thought he was a girl.

She can walk in these things better than I can!

I swear, I never encouraged her to put them on and wear them.  She did it all on her own.

Happy Birthday Matthew

July 12th was Matthew's 1st birthday.  We had a party on Saturday for him.  It was a lot of fun and I think Matthew really enjoyed it too.  Let's just say that he likes to party and loves cake!  That is our boy!!!!  It was a Woody and Jessie cowboy theme.  Here are some pictures of the day.

Guests were invited to get into wardrobe (no adults did though, I expected that!)

Some of my decorations before the guests arrived.

I forgot to put his hat on.

My Cousin Leah did the cake, she is awesome!

Lucas came in wardrobe (hope you don't mind Leah)

Our neighbor got paid $5 to come dressed.

Happy Father's Day

"Happy Day" to all of the Dads out there as Adrienne would put it.  We had a great day trip to Tahoe today.  We loaded the bikes, parked at Camp Richardson and biked for a little while.  We then ate at the Beacon Grill and then to the beach.  After getting home, we treated Matthew to his first BBQ - PULLED PORK!  Let's just say he loved it a bunch.  All in all a very good day.

Ode to My Baby Boy

You are not quite the little gentle creature that your sister was at your age.  You are aggressive, you are loud, you don't mind taking a thump or two from your Sister, and......you stink!

A little while back someone near and dear to me once pointed out that J&J sold baby cologne.  She was blown away that someone would want or need this product.  I myself was shocked and felt the same way she did.  Until now.......my son stinks!  I now realize why they sell this product.  He gets a bath each night and still stinks.  He gets up from his nap, he stinks.  To my dear Sister who is expecting her first boy in a couple of months.....Get ready, they are truly different than girls.  AND THEY STINK!

P.S. I love you my little boy, you are so sweet, even if you don't smell very good.  Mama

Bikes, Baths and Boots!

We recently bought a couple of bike seats for the kids.  Let me rewind.  Before that, we bought a nice bike trailer from Costco but Matthew throws a fit when we put him in it so that will sit for a little while.  O.k., back into the present......so we bought the new bike seats hoping that Mr. M would like it.  He does for the most part.  They are pretty cool since the kid sits in front of you rather than behind you.  Adrienne loves ringing the bell and Mommy and Daddy like getting some exercise.

ibert needs to pay us for marketing their product.  People were asking us all about them during our ride.

We stopped at a park to play.  Matthew loves the swings.

Adrienne is quite the character when she is not so shy.  Most people are surprised since they only see her in her shy state!

Now that Matthew is sitting up easily, we have been giving the kids a bath together.  They are starting to play together so that has been a lot of fun.  When I was pregnant, I had a lot of moms (that had kids close in age) tell me the exact phrase, "The first year is going to be rough, but once you get past that, they will play with each other.  That is when things get easy and fun."  It is true.  Matthew isn't quite 11 months yet but I can see how things are getting so much easier.  Adrienne and Matthew have so much fun together.  Here is them in the bath this week.

Goofy kids in the bath.

Well, since I love to plan things out well in advance, I am currently putting Matthew's first birthday party together.  It will be a Woody and Jessie western themed party (invitations to come soon.)  I bought Adrienne some red cowboy boots and told her that they were Jessie boots (since she absolutely loves Jessie from Toy Story.)  Well I expected her to refuse to wear them.  To my surprise, she loves them.  She wore them to dinner last night.  This is her this morning in her Jessie boots and hat.
Yee Haw!  Well, sort of, she didn't want me taking her picture.  The usual......
